The Everything ABC's Featuring the Letter S

Welcome to the Everything ABC's Blog Hop!

For this hop we will be featuring the letter S. This may be the name of a paper, a stamp set or an embellishment. Whatever the crafter has chosen as their S element will be featured in their post.

If you have just hopped onto my blog, please start at the beginning at Amber's blog ~ Scrapper's Therapy.

If you came from Catherine Nowak ~ Cat Scrapbooking then you're on the right track!

Are you wondering what the Letter "S" represents?? "S"is for Shalana of course!! While it does represent the first letter in my name for this hop it will represent "Stair Step and Slider cards". Slider cards are my favorite since they are fun and interactive and for this hop I went outside the box and tried the stair step card.

I used one of my favorite paper packets Laughing Lola to create this fun card. I also used Lagoon paper and the pear paper from the laughing lola card making kit.  I cut out the balloons using the Artiste cricut cart. I used some Bakers Twine to give the effect of a real ballon. I used 3D Foam tape to add dimension. I added some black shimmer trim and bitty sparkles for some flair. I used our new hostess reward  stamp set "The Party Is On" for the sentiment. This stamp is a must have so ask me how you can purchase it.
Here is the side view of the card.
Here is another stair step card using the "You Only Live Once" Hostess Reward stamp. I had some fun using different shades of ink on the flower using the roll technique for the two purple flowers. I used Lagoon and Gypsy ink
A side view picture.

The next card is the slider card. I took a few pics so you can get an idea of how easy it is to put together. A mini picture tutorial if you will.
First I decided what paper I was going to use and I went with Sarita. The card base is A2 size cut from a piece of Colonial White paper. The goldrush paper (orange) was measured at 5 1/2 x 4. The Sarita design paper was cut at 5 1/2 by 3. I positioned it with 1/4 of top of the goldrush paper showing. I added a piece of the paper strip which had the cool orange and cream colored design to the bottom.
I used my SU word punch to cut the track. I purchased this punch a while back just to make it easier to make slider cards. A must have punch!
Here you can see I used the punch to make my slider track. I did not use any specific measurements I left room on both ends so the slider would stop.
I decided to use this cut Lion as my spinning object. He was stamped in cocoa and sunset ink using the Wild Wonders Occasions stamp set. I cut him out by hand (you don't have too his image is on the Artbooking cricut cart)...I didn't feel like getting up at that moment. I paper pieced the sunset colored face on to the cocoa colored lion using 3D Foam tape.
I grabbed two pennies from my purse (I can always find them in there) and put a small circle foam tape onto the center of one penny.
I sandwiched the two pennies together and adhered it to the lion cut with a big glue dot.
I turned over my card matting and used 3D foam tape to allow for the penny to slide the image back and forth on the track. Be careful not to put them too close to the track so the penny does not get stuck while in motion.
Slide the penny onto the track. Remove the back of the 3D foam tape and adhere it to the front of the card and there you have it. I did add a few more embellishments to the front of the card. I used the stamp from "B is for Baby" and inked in sunset and outdoor denim. I added a piece of Bakers Twine as well. I just love how it came out.
Here is a quick video so you can see the slider card in motion.

Babycakes Meets One Sheet Wonder

I have heard a lot about the One Sheet Wonder so I figured I would test it out. I have to admit sometime I think far to the left and kept saying to myself how can you possibly make 16 cards out of 1- 12 x 12 sheet of paper. I could not comprehend it...end result you can't. What you can do is use 1 - 12 x 12 sheet to decorate the front of 16 cards by strategically placing the pieces. You are required to have your bases for the card using whichever card stock you choose and a piece of solid card stock that serves as matting.

It did not take me long to follow the instruction which were well written. Instead of me rewriting I will give credit where it is due which is to Jessica Taylor of Inking it Up. She is a SU consultant however it all applies with regard to techniques I just used my fav which is CTMH products. You can check out the instructions by clicking here.

Here are my cards and again I used 1 - 12 x 12 sheet of Babycakes B&T paper to decorate the front of the cards which allows you versatility with two sides of patterned paper to play with.

I enjoyed using this one sheet wonder technqiue. It didn't take long to assemble the cards once I finished all the cuts which took about 30mins (I was still half sleep :-p ). Took an hour or less to actually assemble.

Birthday Caddies

I had a fun few days last week finishing up my creations for my daughters classmates to help celebrate her 7th birthday. Her school notified parents this year edible treats are no longer permitted due to food allergies so I had to come up with something fun for her to share.

I used the Artiste cricut cartridge to cut the containers. I made a total of 27. The paper was purchased at Joanne's perviously and since I had so much of it I figured I would put it to good use.
I used these stamped images to put on the front of the container. The stamp set is a part of Artiste cricut cartridge stamp bundle. I love how the stamp sets tell you which image you can cut that coordinates with the stamp. Makes it so easy to do. My girls helped and did the coloring of the cupcakes using Copic markers. The images were stamped in black ink.
This is the picture of the finished product. I made 27 containers and bookmarks. The bookmarks were made using CTMH White Daisy paper and the Enchanted paper combo packet. I used the new Hostess Reward Washi Wonders stamp set ---> ASK ME HOW YOU CAN GET IT! I also used the School is Here Stamp set for all the cute school images.

My daughter reported back her classmates loved them. In the containers were some fun treats..tattoos, little kaleidoscopes, 4 crayons and a little notebook.

BBF...Birthday Bookmark Fun

My lil princess will be turning 7 on Friday. Normally I send cupcakes for her to share with her classmates in celebration of her birthday. This year the school has prevented any edible products to be sent for birthday celebrations due to food allergies. So I had to get creative...

I am going to make her goodie bags. Not sure what it all means yet however since the kids are reading a lot I thought it would be fun to make book marks.

I used CTMH Adventure Combo card stock for the base and White Daisy card stock for the top layer.

I used the new Washi Wonder Hostess Reward Stamp Set (Ask me how you can get this stamp set) and the School is Here stamp set. I hand cut all the stamped apples and used 3-D foam tape to give the apple some dimension. This picture doesn't show it well. The ink used was black, holiday red (retired), sunset, yellow (retired) and outdoor denim.

I hope the kids enjoy being able to use this handy dandy book mark. My daughter was thrilled with the way it came out.

Ohhh Babycakes

I always get excited when my CTMH products arrive in the mail and I have a sense of urgency to create something. I was excited to use the Make It From Your Heart Volume 2 to create a card. Its a wonderful guide with scrapbook and card patterns inspired by Jeanette Lynton and its super duper cost effective at $7.95.

There is also a Make It From Your Heart Volume 1. When you need something to get you inspired this is it!!

Here is my card inspired by Pattern #23 on page 44.

This is a A2 sized card at 5 1/2 x 4 1/4 when folded. I used Babycakes patterned paper. The polka dot patterned paper is cut at 5 1/2 x 1 3/4. The Sunset cardstock is cut at 5 1/2 x 1/2. The patterned banner flags are cut at 1 1/2 x 1/2 which is the longer piece and 1 1/4 x 1/2 for the shorter piece. I added a strip of Slate Satin Polka Dot Ribbon as well as tied a bow. The stamped title block is 2 3/4 x 2 3/4 using Desert Sand cardstock and the center piece is Buttercup 2 1/4 x 2 1/4 with the sentiment "Bundle of Joy B is for Baby" stamped in Whisper ink and comes from the B is for Baby stamp set. I added a button near the banner flags and stamped the rattle in Whisper then Black ink and colored it in using Copic markers. I made a faux stitch using a brown marker.

It is so simple to create a fun card in less then 20 mins using the Make it From The Heart books! Shop with me here.

MOJO Monday 309 Challenge

HAPPY LABOR DAY!! Since I have off work I was sitting here thinking about what I could do to enjoy the day off and I decided to look what sketch was on the MOJO Monday blog and play along.

Here is the sketch...

Here is my take on the sketch....

Here is a close up of the dimension as I did a lot of layering with 3-D foam tape.
Here is the paper I used all prepared and ready to put together the card to recreate the sketch....
The card base is Desert Sand cardstock. I aded the Buttercup (yellow) cardstock for the banner. The rest of the paper used came from the Babycakes paper packet. I cut out the flowers and the circle using White Daisy card stock. The flowers were cut from the CTMH Artiste cricut cart. I distressed the banner and yellow patterned paper with Sunny Yellow (retired) ink. I distressed the Whisper (grey) cardstock and grey patterned paper with Whisper ink. I put together the card mimicking the sketch. I used 3-D foam to add dimnsion. The sentiment comes from the new Hostess Reward stamp set "You Only Live Once"....(ask me how you can get this stamp set!!) I added 2 black pearls to the center of the flowers and distressed the edges of the flower with whisper and sunny yellow ink.

Artbooking Goes Wild....

I continue to have fun and create layouts with the new Artbooking cricut cartridge. Before I know it I will have a complete album of Artbooking layouts. I had a blast spending the day with one of my good friends who recently purchased Artbooking and boy did we have FUN. Here are my layout creations.

I adore this layout and the little cutie gracing the page makes me smile. I used Clare(retired) paper and stickease to create.
This is my daughter on her first day of Karate. She loves it and she is my little "star" so I thought this overlay was so appropriate. I used the Scrapbook Statement - Poets stamp set. The quote reads "Every good dream begins with a dreamer. Always remember you have within you the strength, the patience, and the passion to reach for the STARS to change the world". ~ Harriet Tubman.
This is my BF and I. Love the overlay and color combination even though I wouldn't typically us these colors together. This is the fun Babycakes paper packet. I decided to use this paper because of the colors in our shirts. "2 of a kind" is totally us. Everything was cut from Artbooking. I used the stamp set that came with Artbooking to stamp "My Life' in the word bubble and the stitched border around the title is from the Stitched Together stamp set.

All products used are Close To My Heart unless noted:
Clare Paper Packet (retired)
Clare My Stickease (retired)
You & Me stamp set (retired)
Grey wool ink (retired) you could use Whisper ink
