Skylark Scraps

What do you do with your left over scraps?? While you can do a lot my fun of choice was making cards. This past weekend I used the Skylark Workshop on the Go kit to make 4 scrapbook layouts and alter a composition book (pictures to come). I still had tons of scraps left over to create with.

Here are all four cards....

The really like the patterned paper in this paper pack. I used the zip strip and the Perfect Polka Dot Day stamp set which is only $2.95!! How many smiles can you put on your friends faces sending cards using this stamp?? The card was distressed around the edges in pear ink. I colored in the word "day" using Spectrum Noir markers.
I think I have a new stamp love and it's name is "Dreamer"!!! For $9.95 you can have great fun with this stamp set. How cute is this little lady!! I also used the "LoL" set for the word bubble and sentiment. This stamp set is so trendy and is $6.95!! I used my sanding kit to distress and edges and give it that funky look. The Thinking of You sentiment is from the "Sincere Expressions" stamp set. The ink used is black, lagoon and pear as well as Lagoon Houndstooth washi tape.
I again used "Dreamer" to stamp the butterfly and dream sentiment. The ink used is Lagoon and black. The Scallop Border Punch was used along with Bitty Sparkles to jazz it up.
Lastly I used a simple design I saw on Pinterest. I cut a few strips and layered them into staggered banners. I faux stitched a line and stamped the Thank You sentiment with a retired stamp set. Green & Blue Epoxy Bubbles and Bitty Sparkles give it some glitz.
Close up of the images on the cards....

"Let Your Imagination Soar"....

I am LOVING the new LOLLYDOODLE paper pack!! So versatile! I am featuring this layout in the SOC Blog Challenge...Anything Goes!! All you need to do is create and link your project to the SOC here!!

I had the honor of meeting Mrs. Cardmonkey Jarvis, a super creative CTMH sister who taught a group of CTMH sisters and I the variety of techniques used on this layout. You can find this layout on page 105 of the new idea book. It features the Windy Day stamp set. I have to say this isn't a stamp set I normally would have purchased, however I am glad I was taken out of my comfort zone as I love this stamp. It makes me think about the dreams and aspirations I have for my two little princesses!!

Here is a close up of the different techniques on the page. I did some distressing on the letters forming the word "fly". I added dimension to the kite and clouds using 3-D foam tape! (I love dimension!!). I also tried my hand at coloring using the CTMH watercolor pencils and water brush. I love how my image came out considering I am not one that colors much. I even did some sewing using the CTMH piercing tool kit and Stitch Guide. I used a variety of techniques and CTMH products and I absolutely love how it came out.

The Everything ABC's Blog Hop Featuring the Letter D

Welcome to the Everything ABC's Blog Hop!

For this hop we will be featuring the letter "D". This may be the name of a paper, a stamp set or an embellishment. Whatever the crafter has chosen as their "D" element will be featured in their post.

If you have just hopped onto my blog, please start at the beginning at Linda's blog ~ Scrappy Therapy.

If you came from "Cary Magnani - My Heart's Design" then you're on the right track!

The letter "D" represent Dimensional Elements. My sister friend Candi O was telling me she wanted to know more about how to use these chipboard pieces that come with our AMAZING cricut cartridges. You can also purchase them separately!!
I put together this cool layout using our group picture from a scrapbooking retreat last weekend. The new Ivy Lane paper packet was my paper of choice. I used Smokey Plum and black ink. I decided I would use dimensional elements on the layout to show 3 different ways to have fun with this chipboard.

Here is a video of me putting on the final touches of this page.

  1. Cover the chipboard with paper. That is right you can cut out the images using the appropriate cricut cart and adhere the paper onto the chipboard with your adhesive. The possibilities are endless with all the different pattern papers that exist. I did this with the "2014" chipboard as well as the 3 banners. I cut the shapes from the Art Philosophy cricut cart.
  2. Ink the chipboard. You can ink it to match the papers and card stock used on your pages or cards. In this layout I inked the Irresistible which is chipboard with resistible patterns on them. When you add the ink you will see the resistible image appear.
  3. Cover it with washi tape. I adore this polka dot washi tape!! I literally cut strips and placed it over the chipboard. I cut off the excess and smoothed down the edges. I really like how it came out!!

Here is some up close and personal pics of the dimensional elements in action!! I used Black Bakers Twine, Durable Triangle Studs(antiqued silver) and Sparkles Black and Gray Assortment. I used the Stitched Together and Artbooking cricut cart stamp set for the term "good times".

I am slso using this layout for the SOC "It's s Bling Thing" Challenge...having some fun putting a little bling on my page. You can't go wrong with itty bitty sparkles.

An Ivy Lane Thank You

How do you find inspiration and do you use patterns? I DO!! CTMH has some wonderful How To Programs. I put together THANK YOU cards using the new Ivy Lane paper packet. I wasn't sure how I wanted the card to look so I took to the Make It From The Heart Vol. 2 guide. You won't believe this book features 12 card patterns, 16 two-page layouts and 2 single page patterns for $7.95!!!

Here is the card I put together. I love the look of Hollyhock and Ivy Lane Green together. The patterned paper is gorgeous and there is some much variety with the double sided B&T duos.

Pattern #24 on page 44 is where the design comes from. I used 3 stamp sets, A True Thank You. Artbooking cricut bundle for the "smile" stamp and the  border from the Laughing Lola Card Making kit.  Stamping was done in black and Hollyhock ink. I used  3-D foam tape to pop up the smile sentiment. The round stamp is a coordinating cricut cut with the Artbooking cricut cartridge cut from pg 83 at 1 inch. I pulled out my CTMH watercolor pencils to color in "YOU" shading from dark to light.

I love how the cards came out! Put a smile on someones face and send them a card today!!

Happy Valentine's Day and welcome to the Scraps of Color Hearts and Roses Blog Hop! The winner will be randomly selected and announced on February 17th!!

Drum rollllll please....I had fun putting together this full of LOVE Accordion File Folder Album. You can find the tutorial on Splitcoaststampers website.

I stayed with traditional Valentine's Day colors pink, red, white, black. I used a combination of CTMH For Always(r) and Sweetheart (r) paper packets to decorate along with the coordinating Stickease. Too keep the album together I punched a slit using my SU word window punch and used CTMH Black Striped Grosgrain Ribbon (r).  I used the CTMH Artiste cricut cart to cut out the bow using cotton candy card stock.

You end up with 4 panels with pockets to decorate after you fold the file folder. I put tags in each of the pockets. Again I used a lot of coordinating sticker embellishments to jazz up the pockets and tags.

Here are the last 2 panels. I made a little banner using Black and white twine by cutting shapes out by hand and folding them over the twine. I used the Artiste cricut cart to cut out the "I <3 You" sentiment. On the tag I used CTMH washi tape (r) and wrote a nice love poem. The second tag I cut out pictures of us and pieced them together since the original picture was too wide for the tag.

I love the finished product and I hope he likes it as well :-)

Thank you for stopping by and Happy Crafting!!

Here is the line up just in case you get lost along the way...

CTMH New Product Blog Hop ~ Lollydoodle Gift Card Holder

I am so excited to show you one of the new CTMH paper packets Lollydoodle!! It is so colorful and makes me HAPPY!!

I made an interactive Gift Card Holder using Lollydoodle and my envelope punch board. The idea comes from Dawn stamping thoughts. I made a youtube video so you could get the full effect.

Here is a video and picture tutorial
Choose your base card stock. I went with Cotton Candy. Cut the larger piece at 4 1/4 x 11 and smaller piece at 3 3/4 x 6 1/2. Choose another colored coordinating card stock. In this case I used Pear and cut the larger at 3 x 4 and smaller piece at  1 3/4 x 4. I decided what patterned paper I wanted to use and cut the larger piece at 2 3/4 x 3 3/4 and 1 1/2 x 3 3/4.
 Score your larger piece at 2, 7 1/4 and 7 3/8 inches.
Score the smaller piece at 1 3/4 and 6 inches. Fold along all the score lines.
Take the larger base card stock and place the larger end on the envelope punch board at 1 inch and punch. Turn over the piece and do the same on the other side. You will want to repeat this for the smaller piece of card stock on the larger end. It should look like the below picture.
Go ahead and line attached your patterned pieces to the card stock. I distressed the edges of the patterned paper with Cotton Candy ink.
Put double sided tap on the end of the smaller tab. If you want to have a sentiment on the piece that pulls up holding the gift card stamp it now.
Place the double sided tape end of the card stock against the score line and place the flap down to adhere the two pieces. Add a smaller glue dot to the corners of each piece where the sentiment is stamped to close the edges. This is where the gift card will sit. See picture below...
I made the embellishment for the front panel used the Art Philosophy Cricut cart. I cut the frame using Perfect Fit Frame stamp set from pg at 2 1/4 inches. I cut a circle at 1 1/2 inches from pg. I stamped "Happy Birthday" using the Holiday Tags stamp set. The inside sentiment is from the Card Chatter Birthday stamp set. I used 3-D foam on the back of the frame and then the circle. I added some glitter to the circle sentiment. I used cotton candy, black, pear and whisper ink.
I love how they came out and I love that it is interactive. So much fun!! Thank you for stopping by and Happy Crafting!!

The Everything ABC's Blog Hop Featuring the Letter C

Welcome to the Everything ABC's Blog Hop!

For this hop we will be featuring the letter "C". This may be the name of a paper, a stamp set or an embellishment. Whatever the crafter has chosen as their "C" element will be featured in their post.

If you have just hopped onto my blog, please start at the beginning at Linda's blog ~ Scrappy Therapy

If you came from "Michelle Battitori - Michelle's Handmade World" then you're on the right track!

My letter "C" stands for "Card & Candy". I made a Building Block card from a tutorial on Splitcoaststampers site and decorated a candy filled pillow box. Click here for the card tutorial.
This card is sooo cute!! I used the new Lollydoodle paper packet. My handy dandy Artiste cricut cart cut the "Love You" letters and the shape for the front of the card. The sentiment, owls and branch is stamped using our new "Owls" stamp set!! Aren't they the cutest!! I added so hearts from the Whoo's your Valentine retired special stamp set. I used a combination of Cotton Candy, Black, Pear and Chocolate inks. I colored in the owls using the CTMH Silver Metallic marker and gel pins I had.

I also had some fun quickly decorating a coordinating pillow box. I again used Lollydoodle paper and a heart shape punch to punch out hearts in Cotton Candy and Pear card stock. I added a tag from the Holiday Tags stamp set. The shape of the tag was cut from the Artiste cart and stamped in black. The "Happy Valentine's Day" sentiment was stamped in Cotton Candy ink. I used Paradise Assortment Bakers Twine to hand the tag off the side.
Here is a close up of the blocks...

Up close of the dimension on this card. I fussy cut out the owls and use 3-D foam tape to make them pop. Such a fun card and candy box you could use a great Valentines Day gift!!

Thank you for stopping by and Happy Crafting!!

Sugar & Spice

Sugar & Spice makes everything nice!! I had fun scrapping pictures of a Tea Party Birthday celebration my daughter went to in 2007. (No, your never caught up when your a scrapper!!) I used CTMH Flip Flaps to make this layout interactive and I love how it turned out.

This is the main layout. I used the CTMH Artbooking cart for the title and the heart overlay. I also cut out the heart on the journaling card.

Here is another look showing the journaling spot which will be interactive with the ability to lift while in the page protector.

Here is a video so you can see how I turned this layout into an interactive masterpiece (this sounds good!!!) using the CTMH Flip Flaps!!

Here is the layout in the page protect with the flip flaps connected. The smaller picture on the bottom left I used smaller flip flaps with 3 x 3 pictures in them and made it accordion style...Love the interaction already!!

When you open the layout it adds the flaps to the right and left side.....OKKKK!! I am still loving this interaction!

Here is the right panel.

Here is the left hand panel.
